On my Fine Art Investments website, I explain from the beginning that I broker "artwork by major artists" from about circa 1600- mid 20th century. I also list hundreds of American and European artists, to give people some names to search and also an idea of the quality and caliber of artists for whom I know I have buyers – somewhere. I also show many photos from many time periods of the quality of art I do the best at selling for the best prices for my clients. Take a good look at the page with the photos and read what it says on that page. I can find a buyer for anything that is truly good and in good condition and that has not been exposed online, at auction or other places before you come to me for help.
I’ll repeat here what is on my site but often overlooked when people quickly see the toll free number and call me or fill out the “short” or “General Questions” form (versus the artwork longer form that only takes about 3-4 minutes to complete):
- I do not have clients for any kind of print, (lithograph, etching, engraving, etc.), numbered “limited edition” piece of art on paper (rare exceptions being a small edition by Picasso or someone of that stature) or artwork by someone you cannot “Google” online and find at least a biography and hopefully some information about art of theirs which sold, auction results, etc. I don’t mind doing research for you, but please do some quick checking using Yahoo or Google with the names of the artists you wish me to consider before calling or writing me.
- If you have what you have been told is an authentic and valuable original by a major American or European artist from 1600-about 1965, please try to gather all the documentation and history you have on it if you bought it or inherited it. Nobody is going to pay anything for a painting, pastel, watercolor or drawing by Picasso or Everett Shinn or Miro or Degas, unless it has been authenticated by one of the experts who is respected for their opinion on that artist. If you lack this, I can usually help. But it takes time and can also cost money for the expert letter, especially if it is a European artist.
- I am aware that on rare occasion people find things at garage sales and estate sales and thrift stores that turn out to be very expensive and sometimes show up on “Antiques Roadshow.” Keep in mind however, that it is extremely rare for anyone who has money or was a collector of antiques or art of any quality to put something like this in a yard or garage sale, or to donate it to a thrift store. I will look at what you have, but do not be offended if I tell you it is a reproduction and/or that it is not worth more than what it might bring in a garage sale.

Mary Cassatt (American) Painting c. 1879
As a general rule, especially the past 3-4 years since the economy has taken a real dive, paintings and watercolors sell much better and faster than other works on paper. I don’t turn down some works on paper if they are by very major artists (like Andy Warhol’s works for example) but works on paper have taken a real dip in value and also appeal to collectors the past few years. I have the most collectors looking to buy very good paintings and watercolors by the major artists.
All of this said, I invite all calls and emails. I am happy to try to convert your art into money for you and for myself as well. Please keep in mind what I explain and say above, however, and you will have the best chance of receiving my help in achieving success with your artwork in a private sale at a good price for you.
